The department offers programs in information communication technology in different levels. These levels include level 4, 5 and 6.

The department’s objective is to produce graduates who meet the market demand and also equip trainees with relevant knowledge; skills, attitudes and values to enable them serve as professional ICT graduates.

The ICT department also offers basic ICT training to other students in the institute irrespective of their area of specialization. The department also extends its services to the entire polytechnic by facilitating all the ICT related services such as internet connectivity, ICT support and Computers & related accessories maintenance.

The department is committed to offering competitive market-driven courses to ensure employability of our graduates. Most of our graduates have already secured jobs in reputable organizations.

As part of its strategic development plan, the department  has embraced the Government of Kenya’s long-term national development vision known as the Vision 2030 as its main focus. Science and Technology, specifically ICT, has been identified as a key pillar that will help achieve the Vision 2030 and in so doing help make Kenya a thriving middle class economy and greatly lift the living standards of Kenyans.

The Information Communication Technology Department offers CBET Courses in Level 4,Level 5 and Level 6.

This course is aimed at imparting ICT knowledge, skills and attitudes to students leading to productive employment and job creation in the ICT sectors such Software development, computer technicians among other.

At the end of the relevant course the trainee should be able to:

  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation by developing both desktop and online applications
  • Acquire skills and knowledge required in designing and troubleshooting computer.
  • Understand the concepts and functions of computer operating systems.
  • Acquire knowledge on computer hardware maintenance and support.
  • Acquire firm foundation for further training in the ICT industry

The mode of delivery the programmes includes structured coursework, Computer laboratory sessions, educational trips and industrial attachment.
